More than a collection

Long before the Organic Cotton Archive, there were sketchbooks, hand-drawn motifs and countless conversations about colour, texture and craftsmanship.

Many of the designs in today's Organic Cotton Archive began life decades ago. From playful fish motifs and floral knits to our much-loved stars, each design started as a hand-drawn sketch. They were developed through a close collaboration between Yumiko, our designer in Bolivia, and our small design team in Camden, London, before being individually hand knitted by talented artisans in Bolivia. Their skill, patience and craftsmanship transformed simple sketches into the pieces so many people still treasure today.

Today, every piece carries a little of that history forward.

Why we brought it back 

Over the years, we've been amazed by how many people have discovered Amano through vintage pieces—found in charity shops, treasured by family members or passed from one generation to the next.

We regularly receive messages asking if we can remake designs that haven't been available for years. The Organic Cotton Archive is our answer to those requests: bringing back some of our most-loved designs while staying true to the originals people fell in love with.

Knitted from beautifully soft organic cotton, these are pieces designed to become lifelong wardrobe favourites.

Every detail is carefully considered. We have stayed true to the originals with hand-finished trims and ceramic buttons made by our artisan Augusto in Peru. Craft and human connection remain at the heart of everything we do.
